Phone Photo Dump

Good afternoon everyone!  Brrr...it's cold outside!  Thanks to hurricane Sandy, we have skipped fall and went straight into winter for this week.  We are expected to have highs in the low 50's!  Yahooooo!  I love it.  I am keeping all of you that are in the path of the storm in my prayers.  Although I am excited about the cool weather for us, I know many of you are preparing for the worst.  Please stay safe and let us hear from you when you can.

I keep my cell phone with me at all times.  If I am ever somewhere and need to take a picture, I have it right with me.  It has a good camera and I often just use it in place of my camera.  I have tons of pics. on there that I haven't shared.  So, today I thought I would do a photo dump on my computer and share some with you.

We can play catch up if you will....

Remember a few weeks back when I had to send snack to Darbee's class for the letter F?
I didn't share the last cute snack we made.  They were Frankenstein rice crispy treats.
I think they turned out soo cute!

That same week was her birthday and on Friday, I went in to her class and took cupcakes, ice cream and goody bags.
She was so excited to have a "party" at school and for me to come in.  I made her a cute birthday shirt to wear.

She was so happy.
It was precious.  They sang happy birthday to her...here's the video!
I think she enjoyed it what do you think? (SMILE)

She enjoyed the icing on her cupcakes too!

She got another bouquet of fresh flowers from Matthew in her class.

We had her a few presents to open when she got home from school.

It seemed like we celebrated her birthday forever!

That same night, she got to go to our local high school's football game.
This is the same on where she attended cheer camp this summer.
This game, all of the cheer camp girls got to meet and cheer with the "big girls."
They put pink ribbons in their hair since it was "pink out" night for breast cancer awareness, gave them stickers for their shirts and provided them with a snack and juice afterward!

They even did stunts with them!
This was Darbee's favorite part.

She cheered her little heart out!

They even rolled out the tumbling mat and let them tumble!

At the end, they lifted Darbee up and all sang happy birthday to her in front of everyone!
She was a little celebrity!

It was truly a fun time and memories we will never forget!

That same weekend, we rode up to the north Georgia mountains to the apple orchards.

The leaves were so pretty!
It was the apple festival weekend and boy was it packed!
We had a good time though and brought home some yummy goodies.

We enjoyed a few yummy goodies while we were there too!

Look at this delicious caramel apple!
Is your mouth watering?
There were plenty of things there for the little ones including this huge "jumpy pillow."
Yes, this was Darbee's favorite spot!

We toured a moonshine museum and this cute little museum.
Darbee called it a "prinitive museum."

She also enjoyed the mountain slides.

We ended our time with a horse drawn buggy ride thru the orchards.

It was a very fun day.

And finally, this past Friday was our fall festival at church.
The ladies of the church prepare the cakes to be given away at the cake walk.
This year, I made a rice crispy cake I found on Pinterest.
It turned out perfectly!

The kids wear their costumes and play games.
Darbee was excited to wear her costume.
I fixed her candy bucket to match her witch costume.

I loved how it turned out!

She wouldn't smile because she said witches don't smile! Ha!
We had a good time and she got a lot of candy!

They had a contest where you guess the amount of candy in the jar.
Guess what?
We won it too!
We now have 244 more pieces of candy! Wow...
She and Zack had a good time sorting thru all of that!

Are you still with me?  If so, wow....you are good.
That was a lot of pictures and a lot of catching up to do!

Getting ready for a fun and busy week!

Until next time....

Playing Catch Up.....

Good evening dear friends.  Wow...it has been a while since we've visited.  I guess life just happens sometimes.  We have been so busy lately with birthdays, school and t-ball.  Whew!  It's so fun though.
I have a lot to catch you up on, but I won't do it all tonight.  That would be a never ending post.  Ha!  I will start with today first because it was so cute.
This week in Darbee's class, the letter of the week is "G." They do things during the week that are associated with that letter.  Today was a special day.  It was grown up day.  They had to dress like grown ups. This was so fun for Darbee.  She was thrilled to look all "growny."
What do you think?  Doesn't she look like a little lady?  (SMILE)

They were also going on a field trip to a local restaurant (The Redneck Gourmet).
They had reservations.  It was precious.

Parent's were welcome to attend, so of course I was thrilled to go.
She asked me to come and walk with them, so I did.  I was just as excited as she was.
The restaurant they were going to is only a few blocks up from their school.
They were excited to walk up the sidewalks together like "grown ups."
They had talked about crossing the street and they had to look for the right sign on the crossing lights.

Look at them.  So cute!

They each had their own dollar.

This is Darbee Rae and Matthew.  Matthew is her new "boyfriend" she says.
He brought her a bouquet of fresh flowers to school on her birthday! (smile)
He is the cutest little thing.  He had on his dad's tie.

They had to place their own orders.

and pay with their own money.

They waited patiently in line to fix their drinks.

Then, they chose and fixed their own drinks.

They had discussed how to behave in a restaurant and table manners.
They had to sit down, place their napkins in their laps and use their manners.

They were then served their own orders of french fries.

There were three pre-k classes there.
They all sang the blessing in unison.
It was precious!

It was then their job to clean their place and throw away all their trash.

They walked back to school.

Ms. Shanna, her teacher, invited the parents to stay and watch their day.  I was so excited.
I along with two other parents stayed the rest of the day.  It was so neat to observe their class.  It is amazing what they do.
Darbee's job this week is sight word helper.
Here she is leading her class in the sight words.

I am so happy with the choice we made to put her here at this school.
She loves it and we do too!

I will update you on the past weekend happenings soon.
I hope all of you are doing well!

Until next time....

Happy Birthday Darbee Rae

Wow!  I can't believe it am writing this post to wish my baby girl a happy 5th birthday.  Where did the time go?  It seems like just yesterday, she was like this
or this
and now, she is turning 5.

I have made it a tradition to write a birthday letter each year to her, so here it goes.

Dear Darbee Rae,
Wow.  You are such a big girl now.  You have been waiting to turn 5 for so long now.  When people ask you how old you are, you have been telling them 4 1/2 forever.  Just the past week or so, Pete told you to tell them you were 5 and 7/8.  Lately, that has been your reply.  Ha!
Well, happy birthday girl.  You are now 5!

It seems like you are growing up so fast.  You are so independent and want to do everything for yourself.  I hope you stay very independent.  You are strong willed and like things your way.  You have to learn sometimes that it can't always be your way. :)  You don't really like to clean up your stuff but are getting better with that.

You are very sweet and want to please everyone.  You get your feeling hurt easily if anyone gets on to you.  You strive to make everyone happy.

You hate to go to bed.  I believe you would stay up all night!  You take a long nap in the evenings now that you are in school which helps.  You still hate to go to sleep even then.  You have never liked sleep!

Speaking of school, you started pre-k this year and are doing GREAT! You love it.  Ms. Shanna seems to be a good teacher.  You are very excited to go each day and that makes me happy.  I enjoy the few hours you are there too.  It gives both of us a break and I know you are having fun with your friends.  You have learned about 8 sight words so far and can't wait to learn to read.  Your vocabulary is expanding too.  Just today, you asked me what hilarious meant.  Your new word is "actually."  You use it all the time even when you don't use it right.  Ha!  You are writing your first, middle and last name great.  You know how to spell mommy and daddy's name and you know both of our phone numbers and our home address.  You are so smart!
You can count to 100 by 10's and up to 100 by 1's.  You are very eager to learn and that makes me happy.  Keep it up girl!

You are getting your own little group of friends.  I enjoy getting together for playdates with them and enjoy talking with their mommies.  Katie and Bayleigh are who you see the most.  You girls play good together and have a lot of fun.

You love to decorate and it makes me smile.  You have to take something home from Nana's each time we visit her house to decorate at home with.  :)  You keep flowers in a vase in your play kitchen and ask me often what season it is and if you need to change the flowers yet.  It is precious.

You are playing T-ball and seem to really enjoy it.  You are on the team with Bayleigh and you two are so cute.  This has been a fun time and a new experience.  I'm not sure if you will stick with it though because you are eager to try cheerleading.  Guess we might try that in the spring.

You are learning to try new foods and eating a little better.  You are still VERY picky and don't like to try a lot of new things.  You have a bad habit of smelling stuff before you taste it and if it doesn't smell good, you won't try it.  Guess you got that from aunt Kakee huh?

Your love for Jesus is amazing.  You amaze me with some of the stuff you come out with sometime and you humble me often.  I love to hear you pray and it makes my heart smile.  I hope you always keep your love for Jesus and always turn to him for everything. You enjoy singing in church and don't mind getting up in front of everybody.

You still enjoy snuggling although those times are few and far between. :)  You and I are so close and I cherish that.  I hope that continues.  You are my life and I can't even begin to tell you how much I love you.  I am so proud of you and the precious little girl you are.
Happy birthday baby girl.  I love you!
-Mommy

Until next time....

Daddy, will you marry me?

As most of you know, hubby's uncle passed away several weeks ago.  Darbee is accustomed to visiting funeral homes and attended visitation with us.  However, the funeral day was going to be a long one.  It was out of town and hubby was a pallbearer.  Darbee Rae stayed behind with Nana and Papa and had a fun day.
It's not too often that hubby gets all dressed up.  Not often at all.  He wears the nice clothes to church, but they consist of dress khakis and a button up shirt.
He dug his suit out of the closet and squeezed in it once again for the funeral. Darbee was at school when we left, so she didn't see him.
Late that evening when we picked her up, we had already changed out of our dress clothes.  She was so disappointed when she didn't get to see her daddy in his suit.  I never thought about it.  She had never seen him in it and was so disappointed.
What did he do?
When we got home, he disappeared.  I had no idea what he was doing. He walked in the living room dressed perfectly.  Tie and all.
What did Darbee do?  She disappears too.  She reappears in the living room like this.
My heart melted.  She had gone and got on her "fancy" dress and veil and her pretty flowers.  I asked what she was doing and she looked at hubby and said, "Daddy, we are going to get married."
I wanted to cry.  It was precious.
She went over to her play kitchen and got a tiny little white flower and told hubby to bend over.  We have been to a few weddings and she knew he was supposed to have a flower too.  She stuck the tiny little flower in his suit just perfect.

They were ready.
We "sang" the bridal march and she walked in.
Don't you just love the look on her face?  So sweet.

Hubby met her and they stood before me.
They said "I do" and got married.

There was even a kiss.

They walked hand in hand "down the aisle" to leave.

It was perfect.

I heard her say to her daddy when they got in the hallway, "Now you get to go with me to eat!"
Hahaha!  That's my girl.

Until next time....

Frankenstein Pudding Cups

Good evening! Wow! Two blog posts in one day. Don't get used to it! Ha. At Darbee's school, each family is responsible for snack once every nine weeks. They have letter of the week and the snacks are supposed to go along with the letter. Now that can get hard! Darbee had snack duty this week. The letter of the week is F. Hmmm....My mind began to ponder what we could do. We thought of Fritos, fruit loops, fruit snacks, fruit by the foot, etc. but I wanted to get creative. I turned to my best friend, Pinterest. Thankfully, it is near Halloween and they are doing Frankenstein on Thursday. I found several neat ideas. Tonight, we made one of them. Frankenstein pudding cups.

We started by crushing Oreos. Darbee had a blast with this. She thought it was so neat to use a hammer to beat the cookies to crumbs.

Then, we used sharpie markers to draw scary faces on small clear plastic cups. She helped with this too.

Are you scared? Ha. Those are some scary looking cups huh?

Next, we mixed up the pudding. We used Jello instant pudding mix, vanilla. I added many drops of green food coloring to get the perfect monster color.

Can you see why I had such a good helper? She was waiting to lick the whisk. Looks like she is enjoying herself huh? (smile)

We filled the cups up and added some "hair" to the top. They turned out precious!

Aren't the cute?
They are all packed up and ready to go to school with her tomorrow! She is very excited.

Thought you might enjoy a fun snack to make with those special kiddos in your lives.

Have a great night!
Until next time.....
