What made me happy today...

Today has been a happy day.  A major prayer of mine was answered and I have been smiling all day.  When hubby and I met nearly 10 years ago, we both attended different Baptist churches. I have been at my church for over 15 years.  He had been at his for quite a few years as well.  We have visited many churches over the last few years trying to find a new church where both of us would be happy together.  He has since left that church and has been coming to mine for quite some time.  It has been a prayer and hope of mine for a very long time that God would put it upon his heart to join and become a part of our church where I am a member.  Several weeks ago, he told me we needed to talk.  He told me he was ready to join and knew it was the right thing to do.  Today he did just that.  I couldn't have been any happier.  We are now together at a church.  We are both happy.  Thank you Lord for answering prayers.

Speaking of prayers, this warmed my heart tonight.
As we sat down for supper, Darbee Rae informed all of us not to eat yet.  She had to say the blessing.  She sings a sweet blessing song that she learned at school each time.  Luckily I had my cell phone right beside me and was able to snap a quick picture of her.  Love her sweet hands.

What has warmed your heart today?
I hope all of you have had a nice Sunday.
Until next time.....

One More Reason Why I Love My Hubby...

Good evening everyone.  I am happy to report that Mama is back in town!  Yahoo!  I am complete again.  Ha! She and daddy got back yesterday evening.  We were so happy to see them.  We went over after church and spent the evening catching up.
Last week, we weren't sure if they were going to get to come home or not.  Had they not been able to come home, we were going to stay the weekend.  Hubby took today off just in case.  Since they were home, he had a free day.  He could have spent the day doing whatever he wanted with no one home.  He could have but did he?  No.  What did he do? He planned a special "daddy Darbee day" for he and Darbee Rae.  Needless to say, I had one very excited little girl last night.  I wasn't too happy to have to get up and head to work and leave those two in the bed, but I knew what a fun day they had ahead.  They   hubby needed rest.  I gave him the camera and asked him to take pictures of their adventures.  He's so good.  I had tons of pictures waiting for me to see when I got home.
Here she is getting ready to go.  Notice her new puppy "pinky."
That was a gift from Nana and Papa.

The highlight of their day was a trip to Monkey Joe's.
Can't you tell what a silly goose she is?  Love the pose.

She loves playing in the princess castle.

Luckily for us, Monkey Joe's is in a shopping area.
There is a toy store and a candy store within walking distance.

Where did they go from here?
Papa and Nana gave her candy money last night that had to be spent at the candy store.

Such major decisions!

What did she choose?  One of my childhood favorites....

Candy cigaretts.  Ha!  How silly they are.

They enjoyed lunch at Chick-fil-A and then headed to "the earring store." (Claire's)
I met them there and helped her pick out a new purse.

They had such a fun day.  I cherish those times they spend together and am so thankful that he will take time to spend with her.  These will be memories she will treasure forever.
Yup..he's a keeper.

It's been a rough few days here at work.  I will post more about that in a later post.  Just keep me in your thoughts and prayers.  They are much needed right now.

It has been another rainy day here in the south. Thankfully yet again, we dodged the storms.
I hope all of you are safe and haven't had storms or have stayed warm with your snow.

Until next time......

I Won't Be Snuggled In Front of a Fire today...

That's right.  I have enjoyed reading all of your posts this morning about what a cozy weekend you will spend in front of the fire with a fresh blanket of snow outside.  Well...here in Georgia, there is no fire in the fireplace and the only blankets we will need will be ones to cover our heads in the event we take cover in the hallway.  Yikes!
That's right.  I am a bit jealous of all of you with your snowy days as we woke up to a tornado watch this morning.
A good portion of our state is under a tornado watch with heave storms expected in our area around noon.
Ugh..not a great way to start my weekend.
Take a look at the radar!
That's enough to scare you to death!

So...hoping nothing gets too bad here.
Will be staying in and keeping an eye on the t.v. for a while.
Enjoy your day and have a great weekend!

It's Fixed!

Woohoo.  Can you see me smiling thru your computer screen?  Well that's because I'm back online.  I called my cable company and it turns out, the cable connectors in the wall are all not wired for internet.  I just assumed I could plug my internet cable into any of my cable outlets.  Well...I was wrong.  The guy explained this to me over the phone so I moved the modem and it works!
Thank you all for your sweet comments about my new furniture.  I am so excited to get things back in place and get my house straightened up.  Saying it is messy is a major understatement. Ha!

I realized last night after I posted my blog post that I didn't share with you Darbee's recliner.  Oops!  She wouldn't be very happy with me!  She is so proud of it and proud to have a big chair like mommy and daddy's.
Here is here "baby recliner" as she calls it.
It is a perfect size for her.  It's so cute.

I also have to brag for a minute.
I did something for the first time today and I was sooo happy!

I learned how to french braid!!

Darbee got a new magazine the other night (American Girl) and inside was an article that told step by step how to do it.  Yay!  I have always wanted to learn how but it always seemed so complicated.  I am so glad I tried it.  She was so proud too.  She had to wear it to dance tonight like this.  I can remember my mom french braiding my hair when I was little.  I always loved it too.

Well ladies, that's about all for tonight.  I hope all of you have had a great day.
Until next time......

Getting a few things back in place

Hello friends,
My internet isn't fixed yet.  I still have to call them and set up an appointment.  We got a new t.v. for Christmas and had to have the cable company come out and run two new cable lines.  I am pretty sure the guy did something under the house to this existing line while he was under there.  Ugh...how aggrivating.
Will try and get them scheduled to come out VERY soon.

Thanks to Cindy over at Cynthia Lee Designs, I can now keep up with your blogs on my iPad.  She was so kind to walk me thru viewing blogs on it.  Yahoo!

Tonight, we came over to visit my aunt and I brought my computer along.  She has wi-fi so I can update my blog here.

I am so proud to be able to show off a few of my new pieces in my living room.
Here is my new cabinet that I found at Marshall's to go in between our two new recliners.
I just love it!
It is black and distressed.  The distressed parts have a dark brown showing thru which matches my chairs perfectly.

Here is a wall plaque I found.  Love the saying, "Live today with all your laughter, all your kindness and all your heart."

Here is a picture of our new recliners.
I am in love.
Hubby and I both got one.  We couldn't forget little Darbee Rae.  She also got her own "mini" recliner.
Will have to post a picture of it later.
I am happy with how the living room is coming along, but it's not there yet.  I have a good bit more I want to do.
Today was a pretty good day at work.  I teach pre-k and I have to admit...it's a challenge.  The group I have this year puts me to a test each day.  This is my fifth year teaching and I LOVE it, but this year has truly been a challenge.  Needless to say, I am counting down the days to winter break. Ha!

It's a rainy night here with a chance of storms.  I hope all of you have had a great day.
I hope to be able to visit with you all again soon.
Until next time...

Internet troubles

Good evening dear friends,
Today has been a good day. Darbee Rae and I were up and about early this morning. We had a shopping trip planned to a nearby town with my aunt and cousin. There is a discount store called Rose's. I love it. I went on a search for some new things to hang on my wall and a small table to go in between our two new recliners. I came home with a new rug, a new wall clock, a picture frame and a small framed saying. After lunch, I ran in Marshalls and there it was. The perfect table. I was hoping all the way home it would fit. It did! Yahoo! I took pictures to share with all of you, but discovered my Internet wasn't working. Ugh. Will have to call the cable company tomorrow. I am posting tonight from my ipad which i am still learning how to use. I cant figure out how to scroll on blogger so i dont knoe if i will even be able to visit your blogs. So...don't think I've forgot about you because I haven't. Will let you know when I am connected again! Until next time....

Wanted: Mom to Rent

Those of you who have been following my mom's blog for a while already know how close we are.  Sometimes, I think it's a little unhealthy to be as close as we are.  People laugh at us...always have..always will.  She is my best friend.  Don't write her and ask how many times a day we talk on the phone. Ha!  You might be glad I am not your daughter. :) Before I got married, we had never been apart more than two days.  EVER.  Yes....hubby and I stopped by to see her and my dad the next morning before we left on our honeymoon.  Stop laughing.
Anyway....how do you think I felt when she called ME yesterday evening and said, "You might not want to hear this but your daddy and I are leaving for South Carolina tomorrow for his job. I have no idea how long we will be gone."  Whaaaattt????  My day was just ruined.  What did I do?  Make a beeline for their house and spent the evening with them before they left.  They are only supposed to be gone for two weeks, but we all know how road trips go.  Never as planned.
So how do I feel today?  Pretty lost.  I have hubby and Darbee Rae and my aunt Kakee who is like my second mom but I'm still pretty lost.  I have no one to meet in town after work and "roam."  We were supposed to have a girls trip to Pigeon Forge this weekend that is now put on hold. (Betty-we will let you know the date!)  Hmmm....
What do I need?  A mom to rent!  Anyone want to come down and "roam" afterschool with Darbee Rae and I?  Ha!  We don't have any great primitive shops, but I promise to show you around our town!  Oh-and will you give me your phone number so I can call anytime?  HaHa!
Have fun mama.  Enjoy your vacation.  You deserve it.  Love you so much.
I am so grateful to all of you for your sweet comments and for visiting my blog.  36 followers already!  Wow.  I can't thank all of you enough.
Until next time.......

If These Walls Could Talk...

If these walls could talk,
What would they have to say?
Would they tell of the many sights they have seen?
Every night and day

The excited young man
as he walked thru the front door
a new homeowner
With a new beginning in store.

The friends that have came
thru the door many times
To visit, laugh and talk
And have a good time.

The shy little redhead
with a new ring on her finger
With ideas for a cozy home
On her mind they did linger.

The newlyweds smiling
as they walked thru the door
A new life ahead
so much better than before.

A happy little family
who has now become three.
A precious baby girl
To add to the family tree.

The joys of laughter
and the shedding of tears
Are just part of the things
these walls have seen thru the years.

They could tell many stories
If only they could talk
The changes they have seen
As thru this life we all walk.

These are the walls in my living room.  When I first stepped into this house nearly 10 years ago, I was scared.  Hubby had lived here for more than 15 years before I came along.  To say it was a batchelor's pad is a major understatement.  It was a shell of a house with a little furniture inside where hubby slept.  Ha!  He had done NOTHING to it since he moved in.  The paneling was dark.  The house lacked any color other than the green tile in the bathroom.  I knew if we ever got married, the house had to have a major woman's touch.  That it did.  Thanks to my daddy and hubby, the walls ALL were painted and the house was well on its way to becoming a cozy home.  The living room wall color was a yellow.  I loved it.  I used reds, yellow, gold, greens and browns.  That was 8 years ago.  Now, it's time for a change.  Today, the work began on changing that.  I have to admit, it was a little bittersweet. As we moved all of the furniture last night, it dawned on me how much these walls have witnessed.  Wow....if only they could talk.
Right now, my house is turned upside down.

Yes...it's a mess.  Stuff is stacked everywhere and furniture is in every room out of place.
Tomorrow, I hope I can share with you the newly painted walls as the painter assures they will be done!  I can't wait to get everything back in place and start redecorating.  I will be sure to post the progress.

I must take time to say welcome to all of you.  I am more than overwhelmed by the amazing response from all of you.  I am so excited about this new adventure in blogging and for having the opportunity to get to know all of you wonderful people.  Please check back often.  I promise I will stop by all of your blogs very soon.
Take care...
Until next time...

Welcome...A Fresh Start

Hello everyone and welcome to my new blog.  Upon much thought and consideration, I decided to delete my former blog, Popsicles and Pigtails and start fresh with a new one.  Thus, the new blog was created.  I wanted to take my blogging in a new direction...branch out and make new friends....just have a fresh start.  So...welcome.  I hope here you see a small glimpse of my life.  I will share my primitive/country decorating style, my crafty ideas and attempts, my precious little girl's doings and outings as well as recipes and happenings in my own life and that of my family.  It's a hodge podge of everything.  I hope you will check back often as I will try and post several times a week.  I can't wait to get to know all of you and look forward to forming lasting friendships.
Until next time............enjoy the journey.
